From Crystal:

Attached is the journal club article that I picked for next week (Fuchs et al., 2007). The article is about neutrophils and their ability to make NETs (Neutrophil Extracellular Traps). The paper has some every nice time-lapse microscopy experiments of the neutrophils making the NETs and shows that NETs depend on the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by NADPH oxidase. The second article (Brinkmann and Zychlinsky) is a recent review article which gives an overview of what is known about NETs and discusses their diverse roles in infection including cystic fibrosis and systemic lupus erythematosis.
